People are interesting.
Faces are interesting.
Every face has its own beauty. Thru a skilled presentation of a person’s face, a portrait, the artist attempts to present not only a recognizable depiction of the person’s exterior appearance, but also an insight into the inner person.
Thus, my portraits typically start with a conversation as we get to know each other. We’ll talk about art, your favorite artists or works, the thinks that bring you happiness in your life, and your beliefs about yourself. I’ll get to know you and you will hopefully gain confidence in me.
I prefer to work from life. That means that you, the subject, sit with me while I paint you. There are subtleties of the living person that the human eye can capture and the camera cannot. I do, however, use photographs as a tool towards a painting as well, and will use photographs as a tool as useful and will even work solely from photographs if preferred.
Custom portraits range in size and price. They also range in style and medium. I offer portraits painted in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. I also offer portraits drawn in charcoal, pastels, or oil pastels, as well as mixed-media portraits combining a variety of materials.
Prices range from $500 to $3,000.
The specifics of the the size, style, and medium will be agreed upon at the beginning of the project. A deposit of one-half of the agreed price is to be paid in advance, with the balanced paid upon completion.
